I was thinking about the absurdity of Philippine politics because of ONE WORD - NECROPOLITICS! We just need to acknowledge that Ninoy Aquino's death made Cory Cojuangco-Aquino as president, and Cory's death made the late Noynoy Aquino as president. The Liberal Party also has Vice President Leni Loud Robredo as their newest presidential candidate. Leni Loud was urged to run because of the passing away of her husband Jesse Robredo and her mother eventually died as well. Hmmm... though with the candidacy of Bobong Marcos (who's most likely going to protest if he loses even if Leni Loud may lose) for president - why won't the current opposition actually get another Aquino ripe for the picking? Leni Loud's current losses made known are her husband and mother. Kris now has lost three people - her father, her mother, and her ONLY BROTHER - the only son of their family. It looks like Kris is ripe for the picking.
I remembered writing some time ago that the Philippines should brace for the fact that Kris may become president someday. Now, the feared event happened that Noynoy DIED. Fortunately, Noynoy wasn't shot in any airport or we'll be having NAIA-2 - the Noynoy Aquino International Airport. Noynoy had the privilege to die a natural death. Kris has become the grieving sister of Noynoy. Her two tragedies could've picked her up but she seemed not interested. However, the Liberal Party may soon have another absurd plan (if ever) to use Noynoy's unfortunate demise to their advantage. Now, Kris says, "Leave my children alone or I will join politics!" Well, the opportunity is already there so why not take it? It doesn't look like the deadline is there yet. The Yellowtards should all push Kris to run for president since a Marcos is running for president.
I really hate the whole problem of personality-based politics. For one, I could understand if the Yellowtards don't like Bobong for other reasons. However, it seems the only thing Yellowtards are capable of is the whole attack on the person's family background than individual performance. Are they really still thinking Bobong is his father? Again, I'm not denying that the Marcos Years were indeed terrible. Unfortunately, some people have a VERY LIMITED SCOPE of why they were terrible. The Philippines not only went bankrupt because the late dictator Ferdinand E. Marcos stole - it was also a PROTECTIONIST ECONOMY that protected the oligarchs! If the Philippines were accepting foreign investments during the martial law years - the losses wouldn't be THAT BAD. Instead, Marcos chose to protect the businesses of his cronies through protectionism. Unfortunately, the 1987 Constitution's 60-40 clause for many industries is still giving more or less the same effect!
Indeed, isn't it time (REALLY) for another Marcos vs. Aquino showdown? Bobong didn't head butts directly with Noynoy during the presidential position. However, both Bobong and Noynoy were fellow lawmakers for some time. Now, if they wanted a showdown then why focus on Leni Loud because she is a widow? Why should Leni Loud be the current direct foe of Bobong when she is NOT an Aquino but a Gerona by birth and a Robredo by marriage? Instead, why not let a DAUGHTER of Cory be the one to fight off the son of a dictator? It would be a very interesting match indeed especially when it'll come to the presidential debate.
