Now, they continue playing the victim even after one year. Let's face it - ABiaS-CBN is NOT SHUT DOWN. Evidence of ABiaS-CBN being still operational is that the main office has NOT BEEN PADLOCKED. The Marcos Years actually had ABiaS-CBN completely under government control. The Duterte Administration did no such thing. I mean, think that Karen Davila is STILL ON ANC and that we can still watch TV Patrol on Kapamilya Live. However, what they didn't see was that by opposing certain reforms - they really ended up giving themselves weak foundations. If the Philippines ended up having better Internet - ABiaS-CBN won't even need a franchise to start with!
The Kapamilya obsession is all about ABiaS-CBN as the "paragon of democracy". Ironically, it's commie lawmakers such as Carlos "Heneral Lunatic" Zarate of Bayad Muna and Sarah Jane I. Elgago of Kayabangan Partylist who are the ones defending the ABiaS-CBN franchise. Not to mention, Liza Soberano and Angel Locsin Colmenares are supporters of Gagabriela. Besides, who can remember the one-time proposal (which Noynoy was smart enough NOT to sign) that Filipinos would lose their rights to bring home media from abroad? That's why I even thought that maybe, just maybe, leftist lawmakers are probably drafting the Pinoy Entertainment Supremacy Bill to force Filipinos to support the lousy local media. However, the signature for at least one million signatures for the renewal of the franchise BARELY reached half a million even after a year!
Why ABiaS-CBN continues to associate with the scumbags like Bayad Muna, Alliance of Complaining Teachers, and Kayabangan Partylist is BEYOND ME. Those guys are anti-reforms. ABiaS-CBN should've done its homework years ago and see how the reforms could've benefited them. For instance, they could get a franchise much easier under a parliamentary system without the 100% Pinoy-only media law. The citizenship of Gabby Lopez wouldn't be an issue even if he was a dual citizen or just an American citizen if it wasn't for that law. If there were more foreign investments allowed (such as Internet) than just a duopoly then ABiaS-CBN could survive in the digital world. Fortunately, there's DITO but can DITO be enough? Are three telcos vs. 7,107 islands going to really fit in? ABiaS-CBN should've thought that long ago when they opposed the move for constitutional reform since the time of Fidel V. Ramos. Just think that back in the Arroyo Administration - didn't the same groups join forces with the Dilawans? Then the Yellow People's Army and the New People's Army ended up in a conflict yet again. The forces of Noynoy's Yellow People's Army ended up clashing with Jose Maria Sison's New People's Army.
Just think what a reformed, newer constitution could've done for ABiaS-CBN. Gabby can be an American citizen all he wants and still invest in the Philippines. Faster, better Internet would mean Kapamilya can be off-air and still be relevant. I mean, Internet TV is now the new thing, right? ABiaS-CBN would be forced to rewrite the formula that made its teleseryes and put them on par with Koreanovelas and the like. Instead, they continue to shoot themselves at the foot by playing the victim instead of supporting constitutional reform.
